THE BRIEF
Crate Diggers is a collective of music enthusiasts organising record sale pop-ups nationwide. They were in need of a fresh logo that embodies their predominantly hip-hop and funk customer base, as well as a unique pattern for their merchandise.
THE SOLUTION
After researching various graffiti styles, particularly from the vibrant 80s/90s era, I sketched a unique typeface that embodied the essence of hip-hop and rap music, as these genres resonated deeply with the Crate Diggers community. I opted for vivid and exciting colours that would leave a lasting impact.
When it came to designing the pattern, I noticed that records are commonly sold in stacked boxes or crates, finding their place on shelves in both homes and studios. Drawing inspiration from this vertical and horizontal storage, I created a pattern that beautifully showcases the records stacked together, capturing the essence of the Crate Diggers experience.
