THE BRIEF
For all snow enthusiasts, mountain explorers, and wild adventurers out there, Toji is the ultimate winter wear brand from Japan. The company wanted a logo for their apparel that would bring the elements of winter sports together (snow, wind and ice) and a nod to Japan in the design. It needed to be easily embroidered for labels and impactful on large prints such as on snowboards and skis.
THE SOLUTION
Taking cues from weather icons, the logo was crafted to capture the essence of snow and wind, reminiscent of mountain adventures and sports plus it was hand drawn for an authentic style. The icon for wind creates the shape of the ‘j’ and the snow/ice star was included in the ‘o’ which was also used as a logomark. I used the red sun from the flag of Japan on the ‘i’ as a subtle nod to the company’s origins. I also designed a pattern for the snowboard and tissue paper packaging utilising the brand colours and logomark.
